as americans live longer, the need for long-term care and caregivers will continue to grow, but the united states is ill-equipped to handle the current demand for long-term care. we will fight for long-term care to be delivered in the least restrictive environment as possible—preferably in the community first. all care must be high quality with strong protections to prevent abuse.
Our victories and campaigns
MSAC was key in the successful passage of the Equal Choice Act in 2006, which guaranteed MassHealth recipients a choice for the setting of their long-term care and developed a counseling program to inform them of their long-term care options.
We stand with our brothers and sisters in unions like SEIU 1199 who are fighting for better safety, regulations, and wages for home care workers and personal care assistants. Good jobs for PCAs and home care workers create better care for seniors!
